John Fabie is a Navy kid—specifically, a Navy copter pilot kid. That experience sent him airborne young and where he’s often remained since ("At least four times a year, if I can"). Fresh out of the military, at the age of 27, he found himself at Merrill Lynch, consulting for a $300+ million portfolio in not-for-profit and endowment assets--what he calls "A Ph.D. in investing." John is still captivated by helping clients who help others, and convinced that a particular helicopter metaphor applies perfectly: "If you change one thrust, you must adjust the others, too; in piloting and investing, everything interrelates."
