Philip W. White

A lifelong reader, some of Phil White's favorites include Kite Runner, on Afghanistan, and David Halberstam's The Reckoning, on the historic shifts in fortune of Ford and Toyota. "I want to know the world that my kids might inherit," he adds. A lifetime St. Paulite, Phil married a third grade St. Paul Academy classmate and majored in physics at Gustavus Adolphus College. His regular reading there of The Wall Street Journal provided a clue as to the career direction in which Phil was headed. "I purchased my first two stocks in high school, and the prices went to zero," he reports. "But those early mistakes were great teachers." It's our good fortune that he learned those lessons extremely well.
