Thomas A. Gunderson

Investment Principal

He's an all-American guy with the wins to support it: a swimming All-American at St. Olaf, just a few years after captaining his Henry Sibley High soccer team and starring in the 200 and 400 meters in track. Tom's household still is dominated by sports, including an uncommon one: He helps train the quarter horses that his wife of 22 years, Kay, rides in barrel racing competitions. Investing has been a favorite for decades, too. Reading his dad's investors' reports as a high school senior, Tom decided to invest, watched his stock climb, and became hooked. "I love measuring against a standard. In the end, winning numbers speak for themselves."

Previous experience: managing director, senior portfolio manager, FAF Advisors, Inc.; senior portfolio manager, large cap growth, Advantus Capital Management. Education: CFA Institute (CFA), University of Michigan Ross School of Business (M.B.A.), St. Olaf College (B.A. with honors). Editorial and speaking opportunities: Finance and Commerce. Professional and community organizations: member, Twin Cities Society of Securities Analysts; member, CFA Institute; board member, Children's Cancer Research Fund; board member, Downtown YMCA.
